As Nigeria joins other countries to observe the 2025 World Hepatitis Day, the President of Association of Resident Doctors (ARD) Federal Medical Center Abeokuta, Dr Adegboyega Rilwan Omogbolahan in collaboration with the Gastroenterology and hepatology unit of Federal Medical Centre Abeokuta under the leadership of the unit head, Dr. Opeyemi Owoseni, a consultant gastroenterologist and hepatologist have urged Nigerians to go for hepatitis screening, describing the viral infection as a silent killer.
Association of Resident Doctors (ARD), Federal Medical Centre, Abeokuta (FMCA), has raised the alarm over a low level of awareness of Hepatitis disease in Nigeria. ARD reiterated the need for Nigerians to go for hepatitis screening, describing the viral infection as a silent killer. The association advised that people should not wait till they get sick before going to the hospital for medical check. ARD said this during a medical outreach it organised, in conjunction with Babarinde-Adegboyega ARD (BAARD) Concept of the hospital.
